State Centre of Excellence (SCoE) for Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) established at Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS, Raipur in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Government of Chhattisgarh with technical & financial support from UNICEF, Raipur. The SCoE aims to improve the monitoring quality and reach of services to children with SAM. The Key role of SCoE is to act as a State resource hub in strengthening State’s technical capacity in terms of programme planning, implementation, capacity building and conducting relevant research. Monitoring and supportive supervision of CMAM sites & Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres is conducted for compliance of operational guidelines of both Community based (CMAM) and Facility based management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (FSAM). The SCoE has also established a Severe Acute Malnutrition Referral and Advance Treatment (SMART) unit at AIIMS Raipur for management of children with medically complicated SAM specially those referred from District NRCs and other facilities.
