State Nutrition and Community Action Resource (NCARe) Centre was established in 2019, under Department of Social Work, Tezpur University, Assam with support from UNICEF, Assam. The Centre is envisaged to complement the efforts of the Government of Assam under Poshan Abhiyaan by fostering collaborations, documentation of good practices, supporting technical trainings, facilitating convergence, demonstrations of scalable-models, and supportive supervision for state-level policy recommendations and changes. To further strengthen the support to state government on Integrated Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (IMSAM), the centre has constituted a think-tank on IMSAM with representatives from Dept. of Community Medicine and Dept. of Paediatrics from six state medical colleges. In December 2021, an MoU has been signed between SPMU POSHAN Abhiyaan, Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Assam and, NCARe Centre Tezpur University with a collaborative agenda towards working for better Nutrition outcomes in the state.
