State Centre of Excellence (SCoE) for Integrated Management of SAM (IMSAM) and Nutrition established in January 2019 at Department of Community Medicine, GMERS Medical College, Valsad in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat and supported by UNICEF, Gujarat. The SCoE intends to provide technical assistance and act as resource centre to the Government by conducting research and policy formulation for nutrition related interventions. It also act as a bridge between the Department of Health and ICDS for improving the nutritional status among adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children. The centre has taken the lead in conducting capacity building programmes and nutrition awareness activities, development and testing of guidelines on strengthening of child nutrition services at both the facility and community. State CoE provides technical guidance and support to the Valsad District for implementation of Community based Management of SAM programme in the model block of Dharampur, Gujarat.
