The meeting was chaired by Mr Arjan De Wagt Chief, CDN, UNICEF; Dr Jagdish Chandra, Director- professor Department of Pediatrics, KSCH; Dr Abner Daniel, Nutrition Specialist, UNICEF; Dr Pragya Tiwari, Deputy Director, NHM, Madhya Pradesh and Dr Praveen Kumar, Director Professor, Pediatrics, KSCH. A total of 62 expert/ consultants were involved to discuss the key issues on SAM Management, Role of the state CoE in Quality improvement, Experience and challenges faced by various state CoEs (Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan-Jodhpur; Udaipur and Karnataka).The experience of involving both OPD and In-Patient Department (IPD) in screening and identification of SAM cases were also shared by Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Jharkhand. Mr Arjan De Wagt emphasised on provision of continuum of care through a comprehensive programme involving both facility and community-based management of acute malnutrition to all children requiring intervention. Dr. Abner concluded with a promise of cross learning and sharing of experiences for good practices.
